What I’ve Learned From Season 5

Hello Podcast Babes! I can’t believe we’re at the end of Season 5! Thank you for being here at the last episode. The truth is I batch recorded most of the seasons as per usual. And it has been so interesting. It has been a different experience every season, I always learn something new

In this episode, I want to take you through some of the learnings that I had throughout this season and also prepare you a little bit for next season. I already started recording for next season, and I’m excited to share that with all of you soon!

When Is The Next Season Going To Be?

Season 6 of The Podcast Babes Podcast will start on May 16, 2022. We’re taking a few weeks in between seasons to make sure that we have all our ducks in a row before we start releasing new content. It gives me the opportunity to record all the episodes, especially interview episodes. And I try to make solo episodes also a little bit more timely. If there’s anything happening in the podcast space, sometimes I go into that a little bit in the solo episodes. I also try to make it evergreen content so that it’s not too specific to a certain time. But I do try to keep up with the trends which are also very important.

What I’ve Learned…

Working in advance is a lesson I realized in season 4 and practiced in season 5. In the mid-season of season 4, I was in a little bit of a pickle because I didn’t really have any content anymore that I could just easily release. I was busy and I was not in a good headspace to create new content. I didn’t have time to create really good content. As a result, I saw that my download numbers declined. It was definitely not my best season but it taught me to prepare and make season 5 better.

BrandFace became our sponsor. Having a sponsor partner up with us has been really cool! I think working with an aligned sponsor is the next step for a podcast. Not just because they sponsor the podcast which gives me the opportunity to put some more time, effort, and also money into marketing, but also because they shared the podcast on their channels. They have a big audience of people that also might be interested in a podcast because we made sure that our audience is aligned as well

When you’re talking to a sponsor, make sure that they are a good fit, not just in what they offer you but also in the way they do business. And I am very grateful for all the support BrandFace has given me in creating this podcast.

Narrowing down our message more and more. I did a ton of market research. I asked a lot of my business friends about podcasting, podcast management, how to work with people, to name a few. And that has been really insightful. I have used this in my podcast, and the content that we created for this season felt really aligned with what everyone told me that they wanted to know. That, I think also made download numbers spike, because people were interested and it was exactly the content that they wanted to hear.

And if you have any questions that you want to be answered in the next season of the podcast, or if you feel there are some topics that we haven’t covered on this podcast yet, let me know because I am listening 100%.

Combining two different podcasts. You might know this, I have another podcast called The Digital Nomad Stories, which is very different from The Podcast Babes. What I realized is I can actually combine these 2. Each podcast had different strategies, and I have learned that they can benefit from each other.

Marketing-wise, they are different. For The Podcast Babes Podcast, I do quite a bit of marketing, because it’s also for my business. For Digital Nomad Stories, I was anti-marketing, but I’m changing that now. My next step for that podcast is to start marketing it more.

The really cool thing that I saw is that through consistency, and just making really good content, have gotten me quite a few listeners. I think people also just tell friends about it or share it on social media without me knowing it, which makes marketing easier. I believe marketing can bring a podcast to the next level.

What’s Next?

Next season, I will tell you more about what I’m doing over at the other podcast. New experiments that I’ll be running because I’m always trying to improve. Exciting changes coming ahead! Again, stay tuned for the new season. We will go live on May 16.

If you’re listening here, please follow the podcast wherever you are so that you don’t miss it. When the new episode goes live, I will also make sure to tell you more about it on social media and give you a little bit of a behind-the-scenes look at how we produce the podcast. Also, follow The Podcast Babes on Instagram and get that behind the scenes.

Let me know if you have any questions that you want me to answer in the next season!
