8 months and 56 episodes into this journey, I am awed by the support I’ve received since launching The Podcast Babes podcast. Thank you for listening. I appreciate you so much for being here and listening to me and my guests share our knowledge. It brings me so much joy to connect with listeners and to see that you are getting benefit from this podcast. 

As I look back on this season, I realized just how much incredible information I received from each of my 11 guests this season. Every one of my guests is an expert in their field and today’s episode is a roundup of the #1 piece of advice from each of them.  Let’s dive straight into it.

Amie Finlayson – Ethical Podcasting

My first guest this season was Amie Finlayson and we had a great chat about ethical podcasting. I appreciate that she values strategies that aren’t quick fixes, but instead provide long term value.

When you want to monetize your podcast, you want to do that in an ethical way that you feel good about. The main takeaway that I got from this interview was about affiliate links and that from an ethical standpoint, you should only promote products that you personally use and would recommend to a friend.

Jenny Melrose – Every Podcaster Should Be An Influencer

Whether you intended to be an influencer or not, as a podcaster, you are one. You have a connection with your audience that gives you a platform to influence people for the better. Jenny provided some awesome advice on how to position yourself as an expert and leader in your niche. The word “influencer” gets a bad rap in the online business world, but you have the opportunity to use your platform for good!

Rachael Taylor – How To Build Passive Income From Your Podcast

This is probably the topic I get asked the most about. Everyone wants to generate income from the blood, sweat, and tears they pour into their podcast. Rachael notes that while a lot of people feel blocked when it comes to passive income because it feels overwhelming or complicated, it doesn’t have to be that way. Passive income is actually a lot easier than most people think.

A lot of people think paid ads are the only way to monetize your podcast, but your podcast also creates content that can be built into passive income products. Selling your products is the most effective way to profit from your podcast, in my opinion.

Lauren Smith – How Lauren Built A Successful Business Around Her Podcast

Lauren took a different approach than most people take when it came to the relationship between her business and podcast by building her business around an already existing, successful podcast. Listen to her story to learn how she took her existing podcast brand and converted it into a profitable business.  

Presh Rodgers – Paid Pinterest Ads For Podcasters

One of my favorite episodes from Season 2 was when Presh Rodgers joined me to talk about using Pinterest For Podcasters. After that episode, I really upped my Pinterest game and it made a huge difference in my download numbers.

This season, Presh came back to tell me all about how Pinterest works as a top-of-funnel platform where potential listeners are likely to be introduced to you for the first time. Since it’s a great platform for finding new listeners, it’s also a good place to invest advertising dollars. Presh shared tips on both Pinterest ad strategy and how to optimize your profile so that you convert users into listeners. This episode is jam-packed with amazing advice from the Pinterest badass herself!

Debbie Arcangeles – Travel & Remote Podcasting

Debbie had one of the most poignant pieces of advice this season when she said she “actually stopped listening to podcasters because there’s just so many of them that told me no.” If you’re an established podcaster or thinking about becoming one, you’ve undoubtedly come across the nay-sayers. Debbie’s story is so inspiring as she’s now living her dream of remote traveling while hosting her successful podcast.

Serena Dodd – Why The Numbers Don’t Matter In Podcasting & How To Keep Going 

The main lesson I learned from season three came from this episode with Serena Dodd. She summed up what success as a podcaster looks like perfectly: 

“If you start a podcast because you want to monetize it or because you want to have massive numbers, and that’s your sole reason, then you’re not going to be consistent. You’re not going to have longevity and you’re not going to enjoy it. You’re not going to love what you do.”

Oh my god. So true. My biggest takeaway from season three is that downloads are just like likes on an Instagram post. They don’t say much about anything.

Laura Bauder – Clubhouse For Podcasters

Clubhouse expert Laura Bauder showed me that I was using Clubhouse completely wrong as a podcaster. Clubhouse is most beneficial as a networking platform. To connect with the people that you resonate with and finding people would be valuable to your audience as a guest. To really leverage Clubhouse, you need to be able to carry these connections onto another platform so make sure you are exchanging contact information.

Christina Bernhard – Facebook Ads For Podcasters

If you’re considering doing Facebook ads, listen to this episode to learn if you’re actually in a position to really get results from FB ads and if you are, how to create a successful campaign.

I’ve always thought FB ads were expensive and that was something to do “one day” when I have a lot of extra cash sitting around. One thing Christina said that really surprised me was how FB ads are actually relatively cheap compared to other forms of marketing. Especially when you consider the fact that you’re getting in front of your ideal client 24/7 because people are consuming social media at all points of the day now.

Venese Lau – Increasing Visibility By Repurposing Podcast Content

One podcast episode can create a wealth of content that can be used across multiple platforms and Venese has perfected her system of optimizing her content. Check out her episode to learn how she’s able to take one live event and turn it into a podcast episode, SEO blog post, and social media promotion.

Steph Taylor – Why Digital Products And Podcasts Are A Match Made In Heaven

I’m going to be honest. You know I love to batch record in advance, so when I’m recording this episode, I haven’t actually recorded the interview with Steph yet because it has to be done pretty last minute for scheduling reasons. 

What I can say, though, is that I am extremely excited for this interview. I’ve been looking up to Steph since the start of my business journey and I think she’s awesome. I’m so excited for this interview and I cannot wait for you to listen to it.

The last three seasons have been an amazing experience for me and I’m so grateful that I get to share it with you! This season, I was able to connect and learn from 11 people who are very good at what they do. That is an incredible position to be in and I’ve realized that once I started focusing on connecting with my guests and my audience, having fun, and being consistent, the numbers followed. Yes my downloads increased, but more importantly, more people are reaching out to ask questions about podcasting and to book discovery calls.

This has allowed me to continue to niche down and specialize in what I love the most, which is podcast monetization. The reason is not that I like money (I mean, of course I do), but because  I can help empower women to be financially independent while doing what they love. When you’re a podcaster, I want you to know that it is absolutely possible to earn an income from your podcast and to use that income to do whatever you want to do and be financially independent from absolutely everyone. That has become my mission through season three and I thank you for supporting me as I follow my passion. I can’t wait to share more with you in Season 4, which starts August 2nd.
